My Weekend Project

I saw all these wonderful cone tree's on
Pinterest and Blog  tutorials  for Christmas.
Thought why not give it go and make one
for myself for all year round. Started with
looking around for a candle stick, found
a glass one for a dollar. Then started
looking for the foam cone could not  find
one anywhere in the shops were I live.

Then a idea started
A light bulb moment on Friday night ,
started a project for the weekend.

So down to the shed to see if there
was any foam in a can , the stuff you use
when doing any home diy for filling
around pipes ect.
So I made some cone shapes with
cardboard. Sorry no pics of the
cones we started making. I had to
make a few of them but only one
worked well. By the way when
you start using this foam, you need
to use it all because once started
can't stop until finished.

Here is the cone that worked on
the candle stick base.

Painted it first then added a glass
stopper on the top.

Covered then with some nice recycled
paper, first strip is a piece of checked
material then a brown an cream
checked ribbon. I started with
some yellow fluffy trim, then some
burlap alternated between the two.

When I reached the top, finished
with the checked ribbon and the
little yellow dragon fly and a
bit of bling.

Here is the finished project in
it's new home in front of this
painting, when I started this
I had no idea what colours to use,
but the colours I went with worked
really well. The candle was a
diy craft I saw and tried in
November, they work well together
in front of this painting.

I am sharing this over at
